Q: The main problem my uncle is having is the fact that no matter how much he pray's it doesn't seem that anything ever happens.

A: God may not always give us what we want, when we want it, but he always gives us what we need, when we need it.

Q: Can you give an example of what you mean?

A: Sometimes people’s wants are different than their needs. We can’t always see what is for the highest good.

I embrace my suffering because I know that even if something negative is happening in my life, it’s for my own good.

For example, the most negative times in my life have been the catalyst for the most growth and understanding. The more you learn to accept what life gives you, the less you suffer and the more you grow.

Somebody might pray for something, and get something else, simply because they need those lessons or experiences at that time.

A traumatic experience that one prays to avoid may happen anyway, leading to the gift of deeper compassion, and then that person may go on to help others.

Q: So is everything predetermined then?

A: The story is already written, though within our concepts of space and time, we write the story in every moment with our choices and actions.

Free will and predestiny are a paradox. They are both true.

Q: Have you heard of the quantum physics scientists who advocate the idea of "parallel universes". I like reading your views on things, and was curious as to what you thought about it.

A: Sure. Brian Greene is fun to read. I like his book The Elegant Universe.

More than the physicists I like reading the esoteric stuff by the various spiritual masters of the world, who speak at length and in detail of the multidimensional universe of universes.

Most people find the stuff of the inner worlds too subjective, and like to stick to what can be proven by outer science, but soon the inner and outer sciences will come together.

I've had a lot of mystical experiences, so I have my own proof within my inner laboratory, though the mystic has no proof, for he is the proof.

Meditation builds awareness, and once you have sufficient awareness and sensitivity to the finer or higher vibrations of the universe, you start to get a sense of what’s beyond this one particular 3D manifestation.

In my view, not only are there parallel worlds, but we have parallel selves. It’s like beads on a string, each bead being an incarnation, and all incarnations are strung by a single thread of consciousness.

Each of these beads or lives is an expression of us, a singular being, so really they are all aspects of the One Self existing in parallel within the One infinite moment of Now.

Much of what manifests in our life is a result of stuff going on in our parallel lives. Being that they are parallel they easily rub off on each other, which is the basic idea behind karma. So it’s wise to be good to your self and others in the life you have now, and help your self grow to be a better you, because everything you do effects all the other you's.

Everyone who has ever tried to use prayer to request something, has experienced what appears to be failure. This is not only true in connection with specific things which might be harmful, but also in connection with requests which are strictly in line with this course. The latter, in particular, might be incorrectly interpreted as “proof” that the course does not mean what it says. But you must remember that the course does state, and REPEATEDLY, that its purpose is the ESCAPE FROM FEAR.
Let us suppose, then, that what you request of the Holy Spirit IS what you really want, but that YOU ARE STILL AFRAID OF IT. Should this be the case, your ATTAINMENT of it would no longer BE what you want, even if IT is. This accounts for why CERTAIN SPECIFIC FORMS of healing are not achieved, even though the STATE of healing IS. It frequently happens that an individual asks for physical healing, because he is fearful OF BODILY HARM. However, at the same time, if he WERE healed physically, the threat to his thought-system would be considerably MORE fearful to him than its physical EXPRESSION. In this case, he is not really asking for RELEASE from fear, but for the removal of a symptom WHICH HE HAS SELECTED. This request is, therefore, NOT for healing at all.
